Engagement with Youth
In 2017, Brattleboro Police Department officers teamed up with Big Brother/Big Sister to start a "Bigs and Blue" program. Officers volunteer to be paired with a "little" and go to elementary schools several times a week to play with the kids at recess, and to join them at lunch.
Since that time, officers have been involved in many other activities with children in the area. Some photos are below.

Officer Washburn and Connor O'Neil. Connor was so thrilled with the presentation, he put his police uniform costume on as soon as he got home that day! According to Connor's mom "these visits are so important in planting the seeds of service down the road".
