This years Officer of the Year can only be described as: a presence to be dealt with. This officer always presented himself in a professional manner; his uniform and attire demands attention and he is fully capable of conducting a complete and thorough investigation.
This officer reflects positively on the Police Department and has worked tirelessly to foster relationships between the faculty, students of the WSESU school system and the Police Department.
Officer Robert Perkins, the 2007 Officer of the Year, was hired by the Brattleboro Police Department in 1992 where he worked through 1995, until he took leave to serve in the US Coast guard. In 2001 Officer Perkins returned to the Brattleboro Police Department and has served as the School Resources Officer for the past four years.
Officer Perkins has truly prevented and solved crimes, guided the students and faculty through the constant construction, advised on increasing security measures at the school, provided mentoring to students in need, taught Law Related classes at the High School and Middle School and has been a constant commanding presence at the school.
Officer Perkins has worked tirelessly insuring that all officers were always aware of the ever-changing footprint of the School and of the security measures that were being implemented. Officer Perkins was always available to assist officers with any matter involving students and or faculty within the school system. The entire Police Department is pleased that Officer Perkins has rejoined the Patrol Division and look forward to having his abilities back amongst the ranks of the patrol division.
