As a result of a joint investigation involving the Brattleboro Police
Department and the Division for Children and Families, Joseph P. Childs, age 38, has been charged with 2 counts of Lewd or
Lascivious Conduct with a Child. Also assisting in the investigation was the
Vermont State Police, Brattleboro barracks.
The investigation began on March 30, 2008 when the child made a disclosure to her parents that Childs inappropriately touched her. Her parents then contacted the Brattleboro Police Department and an investigation was begun in conjunction with DCF. As the investigation progressed, probable cause was developed to charge Childs with the offenses.
