Jesse N. Forett, 31, Brattleboro, VT

Ofc. Cooke

On April 15, 2023 at approximately 1728 hours officers from the Brattleboro Police Department were dispatched to a residence on Birge St for a report of a possible family fight.  While en-route, officers were advised that one of the subjects may have been sprayed with pepper spray.

Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with the parties involved.  At that time, the suspect, Jesse Forrett, 31, of Brattleboro, exited from a rear window in the apartment and began running from officers.  Officers chased Forrett on foot onto Elliot St at which time he changed direction and ran onto Frost St.  Forrett ran through some backyards on Frost St and back onto Elliot St.  During the foot chase, Forrett sprayed one officer with pepper spray and attempted to spray another.

Forrett was eventually caught in a driveway on Elliot St at which time he was arrested and then transported to the Police Department where he was lodged.

Further investigation revealed that Forrett had been in contact with a subject he was not allowed to based on court ordered conditions of release.  It was also learned that while in contact with the victim, he pepper sprayed her and knocked the victims phone from their hand preventing them from calling for help.

The court was contacted and Forrett was ordered held without bail pending arraignement on April 17, 2023 at 1230 hours.  Forrett is being charged with 2 counts of 1st Degree Aggravated Domestic Assault, Resisting Arrest, 2 counts of Assault on a law enforcement officer, Interference with Access to Emergency Services, Violation of Conditions of Release, Disorderly Conduct and Unlawful Mischief.

Anyone arrested or cited by the Brattleboro police department is presumed innocent until convicted of a crime in court.
