Officer Winkler & Officer Lockerby
On 05/21/2019 at approximately 1:36 am, officers from the Brattleboro Police Department, Brattleboro Fire Department and Rescue Inc. responded to a two car motor vehicle crash on Marlboro Road in the Town of Brattleboro VT. Upon arrival officers found a passenger car had collided with a tractor trailer head on in the middle of the road. Due to the damage, fluids and position of the vehicles Marlboro Road was closed to traffic for approximately 3 hours. Both operators were uninjured in the crash.
The damage to both vehicles was extensive and they were towed away from the scene. Investigation ensued which led to the arrest of Aliester Sibilia for driving under the influence and gross negligent operation. Sibilia was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department where he was processed and released with a citation to appear in Windham Superior Court: Criminal Division on 06/04/2019. Once fluids and debris were cleared Marlboro Road was re opened to traffic.
Ford, Ayble M., 21, Brattleboro, VT
On May 14, 2019 at approximately 2045 hours the Brattleboro Police Department received a call regarding subjects in a vehicle that were shooting fireworks as they were driving on Main St. A license plate was obtained from this complaint. At approximately 2100 hours, the Police Department received a second complaint advising of a subject possibly shooting fireworks at vehicles on Canal St.
Officer’s made contact with a subject walking on Canal St that later turned out to be a victim of the same subjects shooting fireworks from a vehicle. Investigation revealed that as the vehicle traveled past the victim, a firework was shot at the individual striking him in the head. The victim did not seek medical attention immediately. At approximately 2251 hours, an Officer located the vehicle described in the first complaint. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Ayble Ford, 21, of Brattleboro for Possession of Fireworks and Simple Assault.
Ford was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department where he was processed and released on a citation to appear at the Vermont Superior Court – Windham Criminal Division on July 2, 2019 at 0800 hours.
Schaner, Samuel. J. 30 Year old Male from Brattleboro.
On 5/23/19 Brattleboro Police were called to an active dispute in a residence on Main Street. Upon arrival, investigation revealed that Samuel J. Schaner, a 30 year old male from Brattleboro, had assaulted a 44 year old female. The female sustained non life threatening injuries.
Investigation also revealed that he violated court ordered conditions of release stemming from a prior domestic assault charges. Schaner also interfered with the victim’s ability to call 911. Schaner was placed under arrest, and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department. There he was processed, issued new conditions of release, and ordered held without bail. Schaner will appear in court on 5/24/19 to answer his charges.
Reil, Sherri, L – 48 – Brattleboro, VT
On 5/20/2019 at approximately 0430 hours officers of the Brattleboro Police Department were on patrol on Canal Street near exit 1. Officers made contact with the operator of a motor vehicle in a nearby parking lot. The operator was identified as Sherri L. Reil. Further investigation revealed that Reil was under the influence of alcohol.
Reil was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department where she was processed, issued a citation and released. Reil was ordered to appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on 6/4/2019 to answer to the charge.
Vaudrien, Kevin F., 48, of Vernon
Shepard, Timothy C., 38, of Brattleboro
On May 19 2019 at approximately 2130 hours officers of the Brattleboro Police Department were dispatched to Western Aveune for a suspicious complaint. It was reported that two vehicles were chasing a third. The vehicles were located on Fairview St., where subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Timothy Shepard for Driving with a Suspended License, and the arrest of Kevin Vaudrien for Negligent Operation. Both were issued citations and released, and will appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on July 2 to face the charges.
Rodriguez, Joshua. 22 Year Old Male from Hartford, CT
Haselton, Scott. 53 Year Old Male from Brattleboro, VT
On 5/18/19 Brattleboro Police, after gaining information regarding the sales of narcotics, applied for and were granted a search warrant for a residence on Green Street. The search warrant was executed, leading to the arrest of Joshua Rodriguez, a 22 year old male from Hartford, CT, and Scott Haselton, a 53 year old male from Brattleboro, VT.
Rodriguez was taken into custody, where he was processed, and released on a citation for possession of crack cocaine, and selling crack cocaine. Haselton was issued a citation for possession of prescription pills, along with aiding in the commission of a felony. Both will appear at Windham County Superior Court on 7/2/19 to answer their charges.

Weis, Mirela F., 21, Brattleboro, VT
On May 13, 2019 officers from the Brattleboro Police Department were dispatched to a dispute that was occurring on Black Mountain Rd. Investigation revealed that Mirela Weis, 21, of Brattleboro had assaulted the victim whom she was in a relationship with by biting the victim several times, hitting the victim and pulling the victim’s hair. No significant injuries were reported. Weis further prevented the victim from calling for help by destroying the victim’s cell phone. It was further learned that Weis had grabbed the steering wheel of the vehicle she was riding in and shut the vehicle off, both while the vehicle was in motion. Weis was arrested and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department where she was processed and released on conditions and ordered to appear at the Vermont Superior Court – Windham Criminal Division on May 14, 2019.
O’Dell, Shawn P., 49, Brattleboro, VT
On April 27, 2019 at approximately 1826 hours the Brattleboro Police Department was notified of a dispute between individuals on the Whetstone Walkway. Subsequent investigation revealed that Shawn O’Dell, 49, of Brattleboro, had punched a juvenile female in the throat causing pain. No injuries were reported. O’Dell was arrested for simple assault and released on a citation to appear at the Vermont Superior Court – Windham Criminal Division on June 4, 2019 at 0800 hours.
Calabrese, Devan 27 of Brattleboro
On February 25, 2019 at approximately 2:59 PM Brattleboro Police responded to a report of a two car motor vehicle crash on Rt. 30. Upon arrival there was two vehicles in the roadway, one of which was overturned on it’s side. Devan Calabrese was the operator of one of the vehicles.
Upon further investigation it was found that due to Calabrese’s manner of driving, he had caused the collision. Calabrese was unable to maintain his lane of travel, thus colliding with the other vehicle.
All parties involved were transported by Rescue Inc. to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Calabrese was later issued a citation to appear at the Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on June 18, 2019 at 8:00 AM to face the charge of Grossly Negligent Operation.
Lyon, Nicholas. W. 27 Year Old Male from Vernon, VT
On 5/16/19 Brattleboro Police were called to a petrol dispersal station on Canal St for a report of an intoxicated male that was causing a disturbance, and had driven to the location. Upon arrival officers made contact with the operator, Nicholas W. Lyon, a 27 year old male from Vernon, VT.
Investigation revealed that Lyon operated a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Also revealed was the fact that Lyon’s license to operate a motor vehicle was criminally suspended due to a previous DUI. Lyon was placed under arrest, and resisted.
Lyon was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department. There he was processed, and released on a citation for DUI, Criminal DLS, and Resisting Arrest.
Lyon will appear at Windham County Superior Court on 6/4/19 to answer his charges.
