Officer Carbone Between the dates of May 8, 2022, and May 11, 2022, Officers of the Brattleboro Police Department were routinely contacted regarding a male subject exposing and touching himself, in an inappropriate manner, in public. Subsequent investigation found that Peter Labreck from Wilder VT had, on multiple occasions, exposed himself to strangers and acted in a lascivious manner. Labreak was located on May 11, 2022, and taken into custody for the offense of Lewd and Lascivious Conduct. Labreck was processed and released on a citation to appear in the Vermont Superior Court: Criminal Division on May 12, 2022, to answer to the charge. Julie A Engstrom, 39, Greenfield, MA
Officer Washburn On May 20, 2022 at approximately 3:15pm Officers from the Brattleboro Police Department were dispatched to a residence on Edward Heights for a report of violation of condition of release. Officers arrived in the area and after an investigation it was determined Julie A. Engstrom age 39 of Greenfield MA committed the offense of Criminal Contempt. It was also learned that Engstrom had two active Vermont Arrest warrants. Engstrom was located and arrested. Engstrom was transported back to the Brattleboro Police Department where she was fingerprinted and photographed. Engstrom was held on lack of $1,000.00 bail and is scheduled to appear at the Windham County Superior Court Criminal Division on May 23, 2022 at 12:30pm. On 5/19/2022 BPD responded to two separate bank robberies that occurred within a 15 minute period on Main Street and Putney Road. No injuries were reported at either location. BPD did pursue one suspect into Hinsdale, NH, where he was arrested on outstanding warrants in that state. Charges in VT will be forthcoming and the individual will be identified at that time. Other suspects have yet to be identified and investigation is ongoing for both robberies. BPD thanks Brattleboro Parking Enforcement, Hinsdale NH Police, and Vermont State Police for their assistance. Officer Penniman On 5/5/22 Brattleboro Police responded to a business on Main St. for a report of a highly intoxicated individual. Upon arrival Police contacted the female inside of a business. The female provided a false name, however was eventually identified as Ashley Watson. Watson refused to leave the property, and was placed under arrest. Watson physically resisted arrest, and became assaultive towards Police. Watson was also found to be in violation of Court Ordered Conditions of Release. It was also found that Watson had allegedly stolen merchandise from a nearby store. Watson was issued a citation and Court Ordered Conditions of Release. Watson will appear at Windham County Superior Court on 5/6/22 at 1230 to answer her charges. Officer Cooke On April 24, 2022 at approximately 0010 hours officers from the Brattleboro Police Department were dispatched to a report of a physical altercation occurring on Elliot St. Subsequent investigation revealed the Dale Clement, 32, of Plymouth, VT had engaged in fighting and tumultuous behavior, smashed a window on a door to an apartment building and caused damage to a vehicle. Clement was arrested and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department. While attempting to process Clement, Clement spit blood in an officers face. The court was contacted and Clement was ordered held in lieu of $200 bail and issued conditions of release. Clement was cited to appear at the Vermont Superior Court – Windham Criminal Division on April 25, 2022 at 1230 hours. No injuries were reported during the incident. Officer Penniman On 4/26/22 Brattleboro Police responded to the intersection of Canal St. and South Main St. for a report of a physical altercation. Upon arrival, Police attempted to detain Jessica Buzby due to observing her being physically assaultive. Buzby physically resisted, and attempted to punch, kick, and bite Officers. Once police gained control of the scene, they spoke with witnesses and victims who advised that Buzby had targeted a female due to their religion. Bystanders attempted to intervene, and Buzby physically attacked one, and attempted to attack another. Buzby was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department, where she was issued Court Ordered Conditions of Release, and issued bail. Buzby will appear at Windham County Superior Court on 4/27/22 to answer to the charges of Simple Assault (X2), Disorderly Conduct (X2), Hate Motivated Crime, and Resisting Arrest. Officer Penniman On 4/23/22 Brattleboro Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Fairground Rd. for an equipment violation. The operator, Sydney Clark-Adams, was found to have a VT warrant, and was placed under arrest. Probable cause of criminal activity was developed, and a search of the vehicle was conducted. A misdemeanor amount of Crack Cocaine was located. It was also discovered that Clark-Adams was in violation of several sets of Court Ordered Conditions of Release. Clark-Adams was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department, where she was lodged. Clark-Adams will appear at Windham County Superior Court on 4/25/22 to answer her charges.
