Ofc Johnson On July 20 2023 at approximately 1840 hours officers of the Brattleboro Police Department were dispatched to a theft that occurred at a business on Putney Road. In the course of the investigation officers discovered that three vehicles had been stolen. The vehicles were recovered, and Keith Freeman was identified as the suspect. On July 25 Freeman was located and arrested, and thereafter released with a citation. Freeman is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windham County Criminal Division on September 5 at 0800 hours to face the charges of Operation without Owner’s Consent and Grand Larceny. Steven R. Holway, 29, Brattleboro, VT
Ofc Cooke On July 25, 2023 at approximately 1929 hours officers from the Brattleboro Police Department responded to a residence on Reynolds Dr for a report of somebody possibly trying to break into the residence. Upon arrival, officers encountered Steven Holway, 29, of Brattleboro. Holway had an active arrest warrant in the State of Vermont. Officers attempted to speak with Holway however Holway refused to stop and began running. Officers chased Holway into the Frost Place area where he was taken into custody without further incident. The court was contacted and Holway was ordered held in lieu of $200 bail in addition to the bail set on the warrant. Holway was lodged and will appear at the Vermont Superior Court – Windham Criminal Division on July 26, 2023 at 1230 hours. Ofc Washburn On July 13, 2023 at approximately 1102, Officers from the Brattleboro Police Department were dispatched to 77 Flat St; Brattleboro Transportation Center for a vandalism complaint. Officers arrived and after an investigation it was determined that Douglas A. McDurfee age 57 of Brattleboro, committed the offense of Unlawful Mischief. McDurfee was later located and released on citation to appear at the Windham County Superior Court Criminal Division on August 29, 2023 at 08:30m. Lt Petlock On 07/08/23 at approximately 2:48pm, Brattleboro Police responded to a gas station on Putney Road for a report of a vehicle that was being operated erratically. An investigation was conducted, and the operator of the vehicle, Brian M. Brownell was arrested for the offense of driving with a criminally suspended license. Brownell was issued a citation ordering him to appear in Windham County Superior Court on 08/31/23, and released. Lt Petlock On 07/15/23 at approximately 3:26pm, Officers responded to Baldwin Street for a reported motor vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Stanley B. Haselton struck two unoccupied vehicles parked on the side of the roadway. Haselton was arrested for Driving Under the Influence. He was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department, where he was issued a citation and released. He was ordered to appear in Windham County Superior Court on 08/01/23. Sgt Cable On June 26, 2023 at approximately 3:49 AM Brattleboro Central Dispatch received a call from Ian Earle stating that if he did not receive a police response to his location soon to report a missing animal, he would start a fire. Police were actively engaged with another emergency call at that time, and unable to immediately respond for the missing animal. A short time later Brattleboro Fire received a report of a fire on Main Street. Earle was identified as the person who started the fire and he was arrested. There were no injuries and thanks to a quick response by Brattleboro Fire, no damage as a result of the fire. Earle was later released on a citation to appear at Windham Superior Court on 7/25/2023 to answer to the charges of Setting Fires and False Alarms or Reports. Hope Schraer, 35, Karl Baumgartner, 34, Sharon, VT Lt Petlock On 07/11/23 at approximately 12:30pm, Brattleboro Police Officers responded to a residence on Stark Road for a reported burglary that had occurred there. Approximately 15-20 firearms, along with a large amount of expensive clothing were stolen from the residence. On 07/12/23 at approximately 12:25am, BPD Officers conducted a property check of the residence due to the earlier incident. In doing so, they located Audette, Schraer, and Baumgartner in the residence. The suspects attempted to flee in a vehicle, however they were immediately apprehended by Officers. Additional investigation was conducted, and a search warrant was executed at Baumgartner’s residence in Sharon, VT with the assistance of the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department. Several firearms were seized in the execution of the warrant, along with several pieces of clothing from the Stark Road residence. The three above subjects were lodged at the BPD in lieu of $25,000 bail. They were ordered to appear in Windham County Superior Court on 07/13/23 at 1:00pm. Det Kerylow On 07/06/2023 the Brattleboro Police Department responded to a residence on Elm Street for a report of two subjects slumped over in a vehicle. Upon arrival, it was determined that the vehicle in question was reported stolen and Brian M. Brownell was in the driver seat. Brownell was released with a citation to appear in court on 08/15/2023 at 8:30AM to answer the charge. On 7/6/2023 at approximately 11:02 AM Brattleboro Police received a call regarding two suspicious males in a white Subaru possibly attempting to lure children. Police located the vehicle and conducted a vehicle stop. Both occupants were identified and subsequently released. In speaking with all parties, it was determined that no crime had been committed and there is no public safety concern at this time. Det Sgt Lynde On June 22, 2023 Brattleboro Police responded to Moore Court for a disorderly complaint. When police arrived they found through an investigation that Arthur Fiske had broken the front door window at a residence. Fiske was later located and cited to court for August 15, 2023 for the charge of disorderly conduct and unlawful mischief.
