Officer Wilson On 10/25/2018 at approx. 1800 hrs, Brattleboro Officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Canal Street which did not have its lights on. The operator jumped out of the vehicle without putting it into park and ran from Officers jumping over a fence into neighboring yards. Multiple Brattleboro units and Vermont State Police arrived on scene. A perimeter was set up and a search for the suspect was conducted. The suspect was never found. On 10/31/2018 at approximately 1830 hrs, a Brattleboro Officer on patrol, observed the suspect in the same general location and made contact with him. The suspect again attempted to run. Force was used to control the suspect. He was placed under arrest and was found to be in possession of cocaine. While handcuffed, the suspect attempted to escape. He was identified as Chyquan M Cupe 21, from Hartford CT. Cupe was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department where he was processed and ordered held on $2500 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Windham County Superior Court on 10/30/2018 to answer to the charges.

Officer Fletcher On 10/20/18 at approximately 5:00pm Officers from the Brattleboro Police station located a suspicious female in the Brattleboro transportation center attempting to relieve herself behind a fixed object. The female was identified as Andrea Higley 35 of Brattleboro. A records check showed Higley had been previously trespassed from the property. Higley was issued a citation to appear at the Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division on 12/4/18 at 8:00 am. Aaliyah Jacobs, 19, of Brattleboro, VT
Officer Wilson On 10/17/2018, Brattleboro Officers observed a motor vehicle on Canal Street. Officers knew from prior Law Enforcement contact that the operator had a Criminally Suspended Driver’s License. The vehicle fled from Officers and was later located. Jacobs was issued a Citation for Grossly Negligent Operation, Attempting to Elude, Driving while criminally suspended and false info to an Officer. She will appear in Windham County Superior Court on 12/04/2018 to answer to the charges. Winslow, Shelby, J. 38 of E. Dover VT
Officer Winkler On 10/10/18 at approximately 1721 hours Officers of the Brattleboro Police Department were notified of a theft that occurred at a business located on Elliot Street. Investigation revealed that Shelby Winslow had taken items from the business. Winslow was given a citation to appear in Windham Superior Court: Criminal Division on 12/4/2018 to answer to the charge of retail theft. Neff, Katra. I. 39 Year Old Female from Brattleboro.
Officer Penniman On 10/29/18 Brattleboro Police observed a vehicle operating erratically through the down town area. Based upon violations observed, Police conducted a motor vehicle stop. Police made contact with the operator, Katra Neff, a 39 year old female from Brattleboro. Investigation determined that Neff was operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol. Neff was placed under arrest, and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department. There she was processed, and lodged until sober. Neff was later released on a citation for DUI, and will appear at Windham County Superior Court on 11/13/18 to answer her charge. Forrett, Jess N – 27 yr old male of Brattleboro
SGT Eaton On October 28, 2018 at approximately 2229 hours, Brattleboro Police responded to a residence on Birge Street for a report of a fight. The investigation led officers to look for Jess Forrett, who was believed to still be in the area. Officers located Forrett hiding behind a nearby building on Canal Street. Forrett was taken into custody without incident. He was held on bail to appear in court on 10/29/18. Dodge, Edward S – 26 of Brattleboro
Officer Cable On 10/20/2018 at approximately 5:25 PM officers of the Brattleboro Police Department responded to a report of a male subject threatening employees at a Main Street business. Investigation revealed that Edward S. Dodge (26 of Brattleboro) had created a disturbance by yelling and screaming in the business. Dodge continued his behavior when threatening to kill an employee. Dodge was located and issued a citation into court for 12/4/2018 to answer to the charges of Disorderly Conduct and Aggravated Disorderly Conduct. Officer Cable
On 10/26/2018 at approximately 9:32 PM members of the Brattleboro Fire Department and Brattleboro Police Department responded to a possible building fire on Main Street. Police closed Main Street between High Street and Elliot Street to allow room for fire department crews to work. The road was closed between 9:26 PM and 10:16 PM. Capt Carignan On 10/26/18 at around 4:30pm Brattleboro police responded to the Hotel Pharmacy at 20 Elliot Street for a report of a man who claimed to have a bomb and a gun and was demanding drugs. Police arrived about three minutes later and established a perimeter around the building. The first officer on scene had been on a walking foot beat in the downtown area. After about 7 minutes on scene, based on statements and actions of the suspect, police determined there was imminent risk of further action by the suspect and made entry into the building. The suspect was taken into custody and identified as Devin T. Scott (Age 24). No firearm or explosive device was located on Scott’s person. As part of this investigation police executed a search of Scott’s room at a nearby substance abuse treatment facility and additional evidence was seized. No explosive devices were located. The investigation into this incident is ongoing. Scott was ordered held on $5000 bail and will be arraigned on 10/29/18. Charles Cassell, 27, of Brattleboro, VT
Officer Wilson On 10/25/2018, Brattleboro Officers were at a residence on Canal Street searching for a suspect involved in an assault. While searching the residence, Officers observed a male hiding in a rear room closet and ordered him out. Officers recognized the male from prior law enforcement contact as Charles Cassell and knew that he had a 24 hour curfew requiring him to reside at a different residence. A records check confirmed this and he was arrested. Cassell is scheduled to appear in Windham County Superior Court on 10/26/18 to answer to the charge. |
