Ebon Longueil, 30, of Brattleboro, VT
On 11/19/19 Brattleboro Police Responded to a residence on High St. in Brattleboro for a report of a domestic assault.
Upon arrival, Police spoke with all parties involved, and investigation revealed that Ebon S. Longueil, a 30 year old male from Brattleboro, committed the crime of Domestic Assault.
Longueil was placed under arrest, and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department. There Longueil was lodged, and issued court ordered conditions of release, and was ordered held in lieu of bail.
Longueil will appear at Windham County Superior Court on 11/19/19 to answer his charge.
There were no injuries to either party.
Jane Read, 70, of Brattleboro, VT
On 11/11/19 at approximately 10:56 hours, the Brattleboro Police Department responded to a business on Main Street for a report of a female that had been asked to leave, but was refusing. Upon arrival, Jane A. Read, 70, of Brattleboro was still inside the business. Read was escorted from the property but tried to re-enter the business. Read was arrested for Unlawful Trespass and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department for processing. Read was released on a citation to appear at Windham County Superior Court, Criminal Division on 12/17/19 to answer to this charge.
Alan Stay Jr, 31, of Brattleboro, VT
On November 10, 2019 Brattleboro Police responded to the area of Technology Drive and Putney Road for a suspicious male walking around. When police arrived they found the male and his vehicle had left the area. Police looked into the incident further and had found the male had stolen a catalytic converter off a vehicle in a near by parking lot. On November 15, 2019 police located and arrested Alan Stay for the theft. Stay was transported to the police department where he was processed and released on a citation to appear in court on November 18, 2019.
As reported in an earlier press release, area police are taking several reports of stolen catalytic converters from vehicles. Police believe there are other people involved in these theft and are looking for any information from the public. Christopher Pond, 34, of Brattleboro, VT
Douglas Reed, 43, of Brattleboro, VT
On 11/8/2019 at approximately 1300 hours officers of the Brattleboro Police Department responded to a property damage complain on High St. Upon arrival the officers observed a kitchen in the property to be trashed and a kitchen table to be broken. Christopher Pond and Douglas Reed where both cited for Unlawful Mischief and Disorderly Conduct and will appear in Windham County Superior Court Criminal Division on 12/17/19 and 12/24/19 respectfully, to answer to the charge.
Jodi Merchant, 38, of Swanzey, NH
On 11/16/2019 Brattleboro Police arrested Jodi S. Merchant on an active Vermont arrest warrant as well as a New England wide extraditable warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance out of the State of New Hampshire.
Merchant was held in lieu of $200 cash bail for the Vermont warrant and was held in lieu of $25,000 cash bail for the Fugitive from Justice charge. Merchant will appear in court on 11/18/2019 at 1230 pm.
Tyler Smith, 34
On 11/13/19 at approximately 3:45pm, Brattleboro Officers responded to a report of a man blocking traffic on Putney Rd. near the roundabout. Multiple callers reported the man, later identified as Tyler Smith, Jr., was jumping on cars and had smashed someone’s windshield. Smith immediately attacked the first officer to arrive on scene. The officer deployed a Taser to control Smith, but the Taser had little effect, stopping Smith only briefly. Smith attacked the officer again, charging him and repeatedly throwing punches at his head. A second officer arrived and deployed his baton. Smith charged the second officer, throwing punches at him, and was taken to the ground and placed in handcuffs by the officers. Smith was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, Assault on an Officer, and Resisting Arrest. Smith will appear in court on 11/14/19 to face the charges. The two officers would like to express their thanks to the bystanders on scene who offered their assistance and support during and after the incident.
John Green, 18, of Brattleboro, VT
On November 12, 2019 Brattleboro Police were contacted by the Winchester Police Department in reference to a warrant that had been issued out of the State of New Hampshire for John Green. Brattleboro Police were able to locate Green on Putney Road and place him under arrest. Green was held at the Brattleboro Police Department on $25000 bail until he could be seen in court on the following day.
Jane Read, 70, of Brattleboro, VT
On November 11, 2019, at approximately 1758 hours, officers of the Brattleboro Police Department responded to a report of Unlawful Trespass, at a business on Putney Road, in the Town of Brattleboro. Subsequent investigation revealed that Jane A. Read had trespassed on private property, violating a previous trespass warning, when she entered the store on that day. Read was cited for Unlawful Trespass and will appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on December 17, 2019 to answer to the charge.
On 11/11/19 at approximately 0045 hours, Brattleboro Police, Brattleboro Fire and Rescue Inc responded to the area of the bridge on Elm Street for a reported explosion. Responders located one injured person who was transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was treated and released.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a small homemade destructive device was detonated under the bridge. No damage to any nearby structures was reported or observed.
VSP Bomb Squad provided assistance and Groundworks Collaborative was contacted to offer services to nearby residents.
There is currently no known concern for the safety of the public related to this isolated event. Anyone who has information related to this incident is urged to contact Detective Sergeant Eaton.
This incident remains under investigation. No further information will be released at this time.
John Green, 18, of Brattleboro, VT
Drake Smith, 18, of Brattleboro, VT
On 11/9/2019 at approximately 9:23 PM Brattleboro Police responded to a report of a robbery that occurred on Elliot Street. Officers learned that a 42 year old male was held at gun point by two males.
Subsequent investigation revealed that John Green and Drake Smith, both 18 years old, held the victim at gun point and stole an item from the victim before leaving in a silver older model sedan. The victim was not injured.
Both males were arrested for Assault and Robbery and Recklessly Endangering Another Person and later released on citations and conditions. Both will appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on November 12, 2019 to answer to the charges.
