Ofc Law Between July and December of this year, Brattleboro Police have responded to over 70 commercial burglaries throughout the town. After a lengthy investigation, on 12/27/2022, members of the BPD took James R. Owens into custody on an active Vermont arrest warrant. Based on this investigation, Owens was subsequently charged with 9 counts of burglary originating from businesses in Brattleboro. Owens was lodged at the Brattleboro Police Department in lieu of $25,000 bail, and is scheduled to appear in Windham County Superior Court on 12/28/2022. Many of the above burglary cases remain under investigation, and additional arrest(s) are expected. Anyone arrested or cited by the Brattleboro Police Department is presumed innocent until convicted of a crime in court.

Ofc Fletcher On December 17th, 2022 at approximately 10:07 am, Officers of the Brattleboro Police Dept. responded to a local residence for a report of a domestic assault involving a knife. Upon arrival officers spoke briefly with the victim who then went to the Brattleboro Memorial hospital for further evaluation. The victim identified her attacker as Joshua Chernyshov. Chernyshov refused to leave his residence and speak with officers outside. Officers later made entry into the residence and took Chernyshov into custody without incident. Chernyshov was ordered held on $5000 bail to be seen at the Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division on 12/19/22 at 1230 hours. Officer Law On 12/7/2022 at 9:32 AM Brattleboro Police assisted the US Marshall’s Service with apprehending a subject with a federal arrest warrant at a business on Canal Street. Amber Flagg was with that subject when he was arrested when she provided a false name to Law Enforcement. Flagg was subsequently identified and found to have an active extraditable arrest warrant from New Hampshire for Conspiracy to Sell a Controlled Drug. Flagg was taken into custody by Brattleboro Police and held in lieu of bail. Flagg was cited to appear in Windham Superior Court on 12/8/2022 to answer to the charge of Fugitive from Justice. Ofc Wild In the early morning hours of 12/07/2022 Brattleboro Police executed a search warrant at a residence on Linden Street. As a result of this activity, Brenda Graves (40) of Brattleboro was arrested on an outstanding warrant. Special thanks to the Brattleboro Fire Department and Golden Cross for providing stand-by medical coverage. 12/6/22 Update: The decedent has been identified as Amanda Labbe, 41, of Brattleboro. On 11/30/22, at approx. 9:57am, Brattleboro Police responded to the intersection of Vernon Street at Royal Road for the report of a motor vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer and a sedan. The investigation revealed that the female operator, who was the lone occupant of the sedan, had failed to stop at the red light on Royal Road and entered the roadway in front of the tractor trailer. The driver of the tractor trailer did not have time to stop before the collision. The female operator sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the decedent is being withheld pending notification to family. Vernon St. was closed to through traffic from approximately 10:10am until 1:55pm while the investigation took place. Brattleboro Police were assisted on scene by Brattleboro Fire, Brattleboro DPW, Vermont State Police, Vermont DMV Enforcement and Safety, Windham County Sheriff’s, Vermont Office of the Chief Medical Examiner |
