Cara Rodrigues, 30, of Wardsboro, VT
Officer Penniman On 2/4/21 in the early morning hours, Brattleboro Police observed a vehicle operating on Putney Rd. that they knew belonged to Cara Rodrigues, a 30 Year Old Female from Wardsboro. Police knew that Rodrigues’ license was currently under criminal suspension, and that she had court ordered conditions of release not to operate a motor vehicle. Police conducted a motor vehicle stop to investigate if Rodrigues was operating the motor vehicle, along with several equipment violations. The operator was confirmed to be Rodrigues. Rodrigues was issued a citation for Criminal DLS and Contempt of Court. Rodrigues will appear at Windham County Superior Court on 3/16/21 to answer her charges.

Justin Hale, 36, of Brattleboro, VT
Officer Cunningham On January 26, 2021, Officers of the Brattleboro Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop on Guilford Street, in the town of Brattleboro, for speeding. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Justin Hale, a 36 year old male from Brattleboro, VT. Subsequent investigation revealed Hale’s driver’s license was criminally suspended in Vermont. Hale was issued a citation for driving with a criminally suspended license, and will appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on March 09, 2021 to answer for the charge. Bernie Scarborough, 23, of Brattleboro, VT
Officer Lockerby On January 13, 2021 at approximately 1648 hours officers of the Brattleboro Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop on Putney Road for a defective equipment violation. The operator was identified as Bernie E. Scarborough of Brattleboro, VT. Upon further investigation it was discovered that Scarborough’s driver’s license was criminally suspended and he also had two active Vermont arrest warrants. Scarborough was placed under arrest and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department where he was fingerprinted and photographed. Scarborough was issued a citation for Criminal DLS and a criminal citation for the arrest warrants, and released. Scarborough is scheduled to appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on 1/14/2021 to face the charge for the arrest warrants. Officer Cooke On January 7, 2021 at approximately 2143 hours the Brattleboro Police Department stopped a vehicle on Putney Rd for a speeding violation. Subsequent investigation revealed that the operator, who was identified as John Lyddy, 23, of Whitingham, VT, was criminally suspended in Vermont. Lyddy was arrested and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department where he was processed and released on a citation to appear at the Vermont Superior Court – Windham Criminal Division on February 16, 2021 at 0800 hours. Officer Cooke On 12/31/2020 Brattleboro Police observed a vehicle with a license plate affixed to it that was not on file. Furthermore, Police had observed John D. Mudge, a 41 year old male from Brattleboro, operating the vehicle. Police knew that Mudge currently has a criminally suspended license in VT. Police conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of exit 3, and contacted Mudge. Mudge was placed under arrest, and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department. There he was processed, and released on a citation. Mudge will appear in Windham County Superior Court on 2/2/21 to answer his charge. Officer Lockerby On December 29, 2020 at approximately 1716 hours officers of the Brattleboro Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop on Canal Street for a defective equipment violation. The operator was identified as Cara L. Rodrigues of Wardsboro, VT. Upon further investigation it was discovered that Rodrigues’s driver’s license was criminally suspended. It was also discovered that Rodrigues violated her court ordered conditions of release in that she operated a motor vehicle when she was ordered not to. Rodrigues was placed under arrest and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department where she was fingerprinted and photographed. Rodrigues was issued a citation for Criminal DLS and Violation of Conditions of Release and released. Officer Lockerby On November 30, 2020 at approximately 2023 hours officers of the Brattleboro Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop on Putney Road for a defective equipment violation and suspicion of a suspended license. The operator was identified as Cara L. Rodrigues of Wardsboro, VT. Upon further investigation it was discovered that Rodrigues’s driver’s license was criminally suspended. Rodrigues was placed under arrest and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department where she was fingerprinted and photographed. Rodrigues was issued a citation for Criminal DLS and released. Officer Penniman Over the past several months Brattleboro Police have received numerous complaints in regards to drug activity stemming from a house on Western Ave. On 11/16/20, Brattleboro Police were monitoring this house, when they observed a vehicle leave the residence. The vehicle acted in a highly suspicious manner, acting in a manner consistent with attempting to avoid police conduct. Due to the actions of the operator, along with prior knowledge of the situation that the officer had, reasonable suspicion that illegal activity was present, and officers conducted a motor vehicle stop to investigate. The operator, Philip H. Patoine, a 34 year old male from Brattleboro, provided a false name to law enforcement. Investigation revealed that Patoine’s license was criminally suspended. Investigaiton also revealed that Patoine, a convicted felon, was in possession of a firearm. Patoine was placed under arrest, and the vehicle seized in order to apply for a search warrant. Patoine was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department. From there he was released on a citation for Criminal DLS, False information to Law Enforcement, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Patoine will appear at Windham County Superior Court on 11/18/20 to answer his charges. Tyson Hazelton, 41 of Vernon, VT
Officer Penniman On 10/5/20 Brattleboro Police observed Tyson K. Hazelton, a 41 year old male from Vernon, operating a motor vehicle on High St. Police knew Hazelton to have a suspended license, and also knew that he had court ordered conditions of release to not operate a motor vehicle. Police attempted a motor vehicle stop, and Hazelton fled in his vehicle. Due to the time of day and the vehicular and pedestrian traffic, police discontinued the pursuit. Police later located the vehicle, and Hazelton had fled the scene on foot. Investigaiton revealed that while fleeing from Police, Hazelton had struck another vehicle, and did not stop to render aid or exchange information. Furthermore, it was revealed that a passenger in the vehicle repeatedly asked Hazelton to let them out of the vehicle, and Hazelton refused, putting the passenger in risk of bodily injury. Hazelton was located on 10/14/20, and taken into custody by the Brattleboro Police Department. There he was processed, and ordered held on $5,000.00 bail. Hazelton will appear at Windham County Superior Court on 10/15/20 to answer his charges. |
