Officer Cunningham On December 24, 2020 officers of the Brattleboro Police Department, received information there was a possible operator of a vehicle driving while under the influence who had crashed into another vehicle on Black Mountain Road. The officers found the vehicle and conducted a motor vehicle stop on Black Mountain Road. Subsequent investigation revealed John Whelan, the operator of the vehicle, was under the influence of alcohol while operating a motor vehicle and left the scene of an accident without providing his information. Whelan was placed under arrest, and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department. There he was processed, and released on a citation. Whelan will appear at Windham County Superior Court on January 12, 2021 to answer for the charge.

Rudy Martinez, 30, of Brattleboro, VT
Officer Penniman On 12/12/20 Brattleboro Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on a Be On The Lookout vehicle. Both Brattleboro Police and Vermont State Police had received complaints that the operator, Rudy L. Martinez, a 30 year old male from Brattleboro, was impaired by drugs and was operating the vehicle. The stop was conducted on Putney Rd. at the intersection of Black Mountain Rd. After investigation, Martinez was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI-Drugs. Martinez was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department. There he was processed, and released on a citation. Martinez will appear at Windham County Superior Court on 1/12/21 to answer his charge. Willard Carpenter, 72, of Greenfield, MA
Officer Llewelyn On 11/23/2020 at approximately 1916 hours Officers of the Brattleboro Police Department were dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle crash at the exit 3 roundabout. Officers arrived on the scene and observed a black sedan on the grass and to have damage to the undercarriage and driver side of the vehicle. The vehicle was also involved in two crashes with other vehicles before it crashed at the roundabout. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the operator of the vehicle Willard Carpenter. Carpenter was transferred to BMH for minor injuries. Carpenter was later issued a citation for DUI and released. Carpenter will appear in Windham County Superior Court Criminal Division on 12/15/2020 to answer to his charge. Drew Kennison, 29 of Brattleboro, VT
Officer Carbone On November 15, 2020, Officers of the Brattleboro Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop on Canal St in the parking lot of a local business. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Drew M. Kennison for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Kennison was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department for processing, and then released on a citation. Kennison is to appear in the Windham County Superior Court; Criminal Division on December 15, 2020, to answer to the charge. Micah McTaggart, 34, of Brattleboro, VT
Officer Llewelyn and Officer Cooke On 11/21/2020 Officers of the Brattleboro Police Department responded to a report of a single vehicle crash in the area of Putney Rd. and Wantastiquet Dr. Officers arrived and saw a 4-door sedan in the back yard of a residence on Wantastiquet Dr. The vehicle was traveling on Putney Rd. at a high rate of speed, lost control, crashed into a tree and then went through a residential fence before it finally came to rest. The operator, Micah McTaggart suffered significant injuries and was rushed to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital and later transported to Dartmouth Medical Facility. McTaggart later was issued a citation for DUI and Gross Negligent Operation and released. The vehicle was towed out of the backyard. No one else was injured in the crash. McTaggart will appear in Windham County Superior Court Criminal Division on 12/15/2020 to answer to his charge. August Roach, 29, of Brattleboro, VT
Sgt. Stanley On 11/28/2020 information was provided to the Brattleboro Police Department regarding a suspicious vehicle that may have been involved in a collision on Meadowbrook Road. A notice was aired to local agencies to be on the lookout for the described vehicle. At approximately 4:11pm the vehicle was observed on Marlboro Road in the Town of Brattleboro and a motor vehicle stop was conducted for defective equipment. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of August M Roach for Driving Under the Influence. Roach was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department where he was later cited and released to appear in Windham County Superior Court; Criminal Division on 12/15/20 to answer to the offense. Steven Hull, 52, of Brattleboro, VT
Officer Lockerby On November 22, 2020 at approximately 1644 hours officers of the Brattleboro Police Department responded to a parking lot on Marlboro Road for a report of a possible intoxicated driver. The person and vehicle were located and the owner and operator was identified as Steven C. Hull. Subsequent investigation revealed that Hull was in possession of 164 bags of fentanyl and was also in possession of cocaine. It was also discovered that Hull had been driving under the influence of drugs. Hull was placed under arrest and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department where he was fingerprinted and photographed. He was issued a citation and released, and is scheduled to appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on December 15, 2020 to face the charges. Robert Jones, of New Ipswitch, NH
Sgt. Hamilton On October 29 2020 at approximately 1145 hours officers of the Brattleboro Police Department were notified that a vehicle was seen striking signs on Park Place and Putney Road, and that the vehicle was headed south on Main Street. The vehicle was then located on Main Street, with the operator, Robert Jones, unresponsive. Evidence of heroin consumption was observed in the vehicle. The Brattleboro Fire Department and Rescue Inc responded to the scene, and Jones and a passenger were transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. Main Street was completely shut down for a short time so that EMS could get access to the vehicle and officers could conduct their investigation. Once he was cleared by hospital personnel, Jones was arrested and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department, where he was processed as a DUI. Jones was also charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident. Jones is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windham County Criminal Division on December 1 at 0800 hours to face the charges. Officer Law On 10/28/2020 at approximately 1317 hours the Brattleboro Police Department responded to a possible overdose at the intersectionof Brattle St. and Western Ave. It was reported as an unconscious male in a vehicle. Upon arrival Jason King was found inside his vehicle on Brattle St. partially into the lane of travel on Western Ave. Through further investigation it was found that King was driving under the influence of narcotics while operating a motor vehicle. . King was placed under arrest, and was transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. King was later released on a citation and is to appear at the Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on 11/24/2020 to face the charge. Arthur Styles, 49, of Brattleboro, VT
Officer Llewelyn On 10/17/2020 at approximately 2139 hours officers of the Brattleboro Police Department were dispatched to a report of a vehicle stuck in a ditch on the corner of Maple St. and Locust St. Subsequent investigation lead to the arrest of Arthur Styles for DUI and DLS. During the arrest Styles became combative and engaged in fighting behavior with police. Styles was then charged with Disorderly conduct. Styles was transported to Southern State Correctional Facilty where he was held in leiu of bail. Styles will appear in Windham County Superior Court on 10/19/2020 to answer to his charge. |
