Robert Shipley, 66, of Brattleboro, VT
On 6/2/2020 at approximately 1809 hours the Brattleboro Police received a report of a male on Main St., later identified as Robert Shipley, who was being verbally abusive and making lewd comments to individuals that were peacefully protesting the death of George Floyd.
Through investigation it was found that Shipley approached a group of females, including some juveniles, on Main St. who were peacefully protesting. Shipley began to yell vulgarities at the group and began to yell racial slurs at them as well. Shipley continued yelling racial slurs across the street, where he stopped at another group of younger females and began to yell at them as well. One female stated that she felt threatened by both his words and physical actions.
Shipley was later found and was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Hate Motivated and is to appear at the Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division at a later date to face the charge.
Jamie Trill, 35, of Brattleboro, VT
On July 2 2019 at approximately 1635 hours officers of the Brattleboro Police Department responded to South Main Street for a citizen dispute. Subsequent investigation revealed that Jamie Trill, known also as Olivia, struck another man while using racially-charged and derogatory language. No one was transported for injuries as a result of this incident. Trill was placed under arrest and transported to the department where he was lodged in lieu of bail. Trill will appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Divison on July 3 to face the charge of Hate-Motivated Simple Assault.
