Justin Clough, 40, of Brattleboro, VT
On 6/27/20 Brattleboro Police responded to the Brattleboro Retreat for a trespassing complaint.
Police made contact with the subject, who was identified as Justin E. Clough, a 40 year old male from Brattleboro. Clough had been previously trespassed from the Brattleboro Retreat for planting a fake bomb on the premises.
Police attempted to place Clough under arrest, who decided to run to avoid arrest. Clough disrupted the flow of traffic while running, and shouted vulgarities within earshot of those out in the public.
Clough continued to physically resist officers as they attempted to place him into custody.
Clough was placed into custody, and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department. There he was processed, and issued court ordered conditions of release. Bail imposed, and Clough was transported to Southern State Correctional Facility. Clough will be arraigned on 6/29/20 via internet arraignment.
Jonathan Palmisano, 25, of Brattleboro, VT
On 6/19/2020 at approximately 5:08 PM Brattleboro Police, Brattleboro Fire and Rescue Inc responded to a two vehicle crash with injuries on Maple Street. The roadway was closed to traffic during the investigation of this crash.
At approximately 5:31 PM while the scene was still occupied by emergency services, witnesses and those involved a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed drove through the scene. The vehicle nearly collided with emergency vehicles and several emergency workers and witnesses on scene. The vehicle crashed on Maple Street a short time later and the operator fled the scene on foot.
At approximately 7:22 PM the operator, identified as Jonathan Palmisano, was later located and apprehended near Western Avenue and Guilford Street by Brattleboro Police and Vermont State Police including Vermont State Police K9. Palmisano was held in lieu of $10,000 bail and ordered to appear in court on 6/22/20 to answer to the charges of Gross Negligent Operation, Aggravated Assault (6 counts), Resisting Arrest and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. Palmisano was also issued several tickets for civil vehicle operation violations.
Bernard Jacobs, Jr, 39, of Brattleboro, VT
On June 14 2020 at approximately 0300 hours officers of the Brattleboro Police Department responded to a residence on High Street for a reported family fight. Upon arrival the officers encountered Bernard Jacobs Jr. and several others, and Jacobs Jr. became disorderly, impeding officers’ abilities to conduct their investigation. Jacobs Jr. was placed under arrest, and subsequently resisted arrest. No one sought medical attention as a result of this incident.
Jacobs Jr. was transported to the department and later released with conditions and a citation. Jacobs Jr. was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Impeding Public Officials, and Resisting Arrest, and is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court: Windham County Criminal Division on June 15 to face the charges.
Bobby R. Smith, 49, of Brattleboro, VT
On April 23, 2020 officers of the Brattleboro Police Department responded to an intersection on Canal Street, in the Town of Brattleboro, for a report of a male throwing beer at a female and then pushing her. Subsequent investigation revealed that Bobby Smith was the male who assault the female at that intersection. The female sustained no injuries and refused medical treatment.
While investigating the assault, Officers responded to a business on Canal Street for Smith acting in a disorderly manner. Subsequent investigation revealed Smith resisted arrest when he fought with an officer who had lawfully detained him. Smith also acted in a disorderly manner when he made unreasonable noise in a public place and used abusive and obscene language multiple times.
Smith was cited for Simple Assault, Resisting Arrest, and Disorderly Conduct and will appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on 07/14/2020 to answer to the charge.
Arrest on Warrant, Resisting Arrest, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Hindering Arrest, Violation of Relief from Abuse Order
Joseph Butts, 29, of Brattleboro, VT
Female Operator, 35 of Brattleboro
On 3/15/20 at approximately 1900 hrs Brattleboro Police observed a vehicle that they believed Joseph Butts was a passenger in. Police knew that Butts had several warrants out of Vermont.
Police initiated a motor vehicle stop on Pine St, and made contact with the operator, a 35 year old female from Brattleboro. Police also made contact with Joseph, who was the passenger.
When police ordered Joseph out of the car, Joseph slammed the door, and the female operator took off. Joseph then exited the vehicle, and ran on foot into the neighborhood.
A foot pursuit ensued, and Joseph was located and taken into custody.
Joseph was placed under arrest for his warrants, along with resisting arrest. Furthermore, Joseph was found to be in violation of a court ordered Relief from Abuse order, and was in violation of his court ordered Conditions of Release.
Joseph was held in lieu of bail, and will appear at Windham County Superior Court on 3/16/20 at 1230 to answer his charges.
The female operator was placed under arrest for hindering arrest, and negligent operation. The female operator was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department, where she was processed, and releaed on a citation. The female operator will appear at Windham County Superior Court on 4/28/20 to answer her charges.
Buck Mitchell, 27, of Brattleboro, VT
On 1/11/2020 at approximately 2134 hours officers from the Brattleboro Police Department observed Buck Mitchell. Brattleboro Officers were advised that Mitchell had an active arrest warrant.
Upon making contact with Mitchell to place him under arrest for his warrant. Mitchell attempted to flee and resist by fighting with Brattleboro Officers on Canal St. Neither Officer sustained any injuries.
Mitchell was placed under arrest for Resisting Arrest and for Disorderly Conduct. Mitchell is to appear at the Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on 1/13/2020 to face the charges.
Buck Mitchell, 27, of Brattleboro, VT
On December 29, 2019 at approximately 0615 hours officers of the Brattleboro Police Department were dispatched to Belmont Avenue for a report of a male going through yards. Officers later located Buck Mitchell in a nearby parking lot who matched a description provided by a complainant. Mitchell was informed he was under arrest for an unrelated crime, which he resisted and actively struggled to get away. Mitchell was eventually placed into custody and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department where he was held in lieu of bail. Mitchell will appear in Windham Superior Court: Criminal Division on 12/30/2019.
Tyler Smith, 34
On 11/13/19 at approximately 3:45pm, Brattleboro Officers responded to a report of a man blocking traffic on Putney Rd. near the roundabout. Multiple callers reported the man, later identified as Tyler Smith, Jr., was jumping on cars and had smashed someone’s windshield. Smith immediately attacked the first officer to arrive on scene. The officer deployed a Taser to control Smith, but the Taser had little effect, stopping Smith only briefly. Smith attacked the officer again, charging him and repeatedly throwing punches at his head. A second officer arrived and deployed his baton. Smith charged the second officer, throwing punches at him, and was taken to the ground and placed in handcuffs by the officers. Smith was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, Assault on an Officer, and Resisting Arrest. Smith will appear in court on 11/14/19 to face the charges. The two officers would like to express their thanks to the bystanders on scene who offered their assistance and support during and after the incident.
Buddy Vecchiano, 38, of Brattleboro, VT
On 7/27/2019 at approximately 0150 hours officers of the Brattleboro Police Department were on patrol on High Street. Officers made contact with the operator of a motor vehicle for a motor vehicle violation. The operator was identified as Buddy W. Vecchiano.
Further investigation revealed that Vecchiano was under the influence of alcohol. It was also found that Vecchiano had a criminally suspended operator’s license. During the investigation, Vecchiano fled the scene on foot while officers yelled several times for him to stop and that he was under arrest. Vecchiano was caught and placed under arrest.
Vecchiano was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department where he was lodged. Vecchiano was held in lieu of bail, subsequently made bail, and was released on condtions. Vecchiano was issued a citation to appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on 7/29/2019 to answer to the charges of Driving Under the Influence, Operating with a Criminally Suspended License, and Resisting Arrest.
Lyon, Nicholas. W. 27 Year Old Male from Vernon, VT
On 5/16/19 Brattleboro Police were called to a petrol dispersal station on Canal St for a report of an intoxicated male that was causing a disturbance, and had driven to the location. Upon arrival officers made contact with the operator, Nicholas W. Lyon, a 27 year old male from Vernon, VT.
Investigation revealed that Lyon operated a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Also revealed was the fact that Lyon’s license to operate a motor vehicle was criminally suspended due to a previous DUI. Lyon was placed under arrest, and resisted.
Lyon was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department. There he was processed, and released on a citation for DUI, Criminal DLS, and Resisting Arrest.
Lyon will appear at Windham County Superior Court on 6/4/19 to answer his charges.
