Emanuel R. Tenner, 22, of Natchez, MS
On 07/11/2020 At approximately 8:00 PM Brattleboro Police officers were in the area and conducting an investigation in the parking lot of a commercial business on Canal Street. While there, they heard several gunshots come from the area of a neighboring hotel. Police immediately responded to the area and located a subject who suffered a gun shot wound. That person was loaded into a police cruiser and transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. The subject was later transported to Dartmouth Medical Center, their current condition is unknown at this time. An investigation was conducted and police arrested Emanuel R. Tenner III (22) of Natchez, Mississippi, at the scene. The firearm suspected to have been used in the shooting was recovered as well.
Mr. Tenner is being ordered held without bail on charges of Attempted Second Degree Murder, Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon and Recklessly endangering another person. Mr. Tenner will appear in court on Monday, July 13, 2020, at 1230 PM.

On 07/29/2019 at approximately 7:30 PM Brattleboro Police and Vermont State Police responded to Elliot Street by the Elm Street intersection for the report of gunfire. During the investigation into this incident, Michael Samuels (19) of CT was arrested and charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. A 9mm handgun with and extended magazine, laser targeting device and an obliterated serial number was located on scene.

On 12/4/18 at around 7:45pm Brattleboro police responded to a report of gun shots in the area of 149 Canal Street. Officers responded and found that shots had been fired at 149 Canal Street and the suspects had fled. Police secured the area and detectives and additional uniformed officers were called in to assist with the investigation.
Preliminary investigation indicates that multiple rounds were fired in the direction of 149 Canal Street. No injuries were reported. Shell casings, bullets, and bullet fragments were seized as evidence. At this time police are not releasing information about the number of shots fired or the type or caliber of shells and bullets that were recovered.
Bullets entered several different apartment units at #149. At least one bullet also passed through the building. Based on the trajectory of some bullets, police contacted nearby residents and businesses to insure no one had been injured.
Some witnesses reported seeing up to three suspects fleeing the area, described as two white males and a black male. No further description is being released at this time.
Preliminary information suggests the perpetrators of this shooting likely targeted one of the apartments at 149 Canal Street. Police have no indication that this was a random shooting or that there is an increased danger to the general public beyond this event.
