ASSAULT & ROBBERY, LSA January 30, 2018 OFFICER PENNIMAN On 1/28/17 at approximately 2200 Brattleboro Police responded to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for a report of a female with injuries resulting from an attempted Assault and Robbery, and an assault with a motor vehicle. The female stated that the incident occurred in the parking lot of the Municipal building located at 230 Main Street at approximately 1900 hrs. The female was treated at BMH for moderate, non life threatening injuries, and was subsequently discharged. There have currently been no charges filed, and this is an ongoing investigation. The vehicle involved was described as an older model green pickup truck with white landscaping decals on the side. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Brattleboro Police Department. ++++++++++++++++++++++ MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH January 30, 2018 OFFICER KERYLOW On 01/28/2018 at approximately 0831 hours Brattleboro Police, Brattleboro Fire and Rescue Inc. responded to Marlboro Road near Hamilton Road for a report of a tractor trailer on its side. Upon arrival, the tractor trailer unit was discovered lying on its driver side. The operator, Nathan T. Rogers of Texas, was treated on scene and transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for non life threatening injuries. Rogers was operating a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia, towing a 53 foot trailer, east when the trailer lost traction due to ice and started to slide. Rogers then crossed the west bound lane and rolled the tractor trailer on to its side. Marlboro Road was shut down to alternating one lane traffic for approximately three and a half hours and shut down completely for approximately 30 minutes while DJ’s Towing pulled the truck upright. A chemical and oil spill response team responded as well for diesel fuel that had leaked into a near by brook. ++++++++++++ RETAIL THEFT January 30, 2018 Dyer, James, A. Jr., 31, Homeless OFFICER VINTON On 01/24/18 at approximately 3:30 p.m. the Brattleboro Police responded to a local business on Putney Road for a report of retail theft. Upon investigation, it was determined that James A. Dyer Jr., 31, Homeless commited the crime of retail theft. Dyer was issued a trespass from the business and a citation to appear at Windham Superior Court on 03/13/18 to face the charge. +++++++++++ VIOLATION OF COURT ORDERED CONDITIONS OF RELEASE January 30, 2018 Supernois, Thomas A. Age: 47 Residence: Brattleboro, VT SERGEANT PETLOCK On 01/23/18 at approximately 7:30am, Brattleboro Police made contact with Thomas Supernois on Green Street. In contacting Supernois, investigation revealed that he had consumed alcohol in violation of his court ordered conditions of release. He was arrested, and later released with a citation ordering him to appear in Windham County Superior Court on 02/06/18. ++++++++++++ DUI January 30, 2018 Karo, Paul. 25 Year Old Male from Brattleboro OFFICER PENNIMAN In the early morning hours of 1/22/18 Brattleboro Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on a vehicle on Elliot Street due to defective equipment on the vehicle. Subsequent investigation lead to the arrest of Paul Karo for Driving Under the Influence. Karo was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department where he was processed, and released on a citation. Through investigation it was determined that Denny R. Bills Sr spit and threw coffee on another client. Bills was issued Conditions of Release and a citation to appear in court on 02/27/2018 to answer the charge. ++++++++++++ ARREST ON WARRANT January 26, 2018 Corey Whidden, 27, of Brattleboro OFFICER HAMILTON On January 25 2018 officers of the Brattleboro Police Department were investigating ongoing drug activity at a residence on Canal St. when they located Corey Whidden. Whidden was discovered to have an outstanding warrant. Whidden was arrested and held in lieu of $5000 bail. Whidden will appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on January 26 2018 to face the underlying charges. +++++++++++ DOMESTIC ASSAULT January 26, 2018 Waite, Cameron E. age 28, of Brattleboro OFFICER VINTON On 1/25/18 at approximately 3pm Brattleboro Officers responded to a residence on Canal St. regarding a fight in progress. Upon arrival Officers encountered Cameron E. Waite. Investigation revealed that Waite injured another subject during a physical altercation. Waite and the victim were both treated at the Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The suspect, Matthew R. Condon, allegedly slapped and knocked the victim to the ground. Condon was arrested for Domestic Assault. Condon will appear in court on 1/25/18 to face the charge. Subsequent investigation revealed that Jeffrey Buzby violated active conditions of release by contacting a woman who lived in the area. Buzby was arrested and charged with Contempt of Court. Allard, who was intoxicated, was determined to have driven to the scene, and was issued a citation for DUI and released to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for treatment. Allard will appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on February 27 to face the charge. +++++++++++ UNLAWFUL TRESPASS January 26, 2018 Walter Swift, 56, of Brattleboro OFFICER HAMILTON On January 9 2018 officers of the Brattleboro Police Department responded to a business on Main St. for a Trespassing complaint. Subsequent investigation determined that Walter Swift had violated an existing No Trespass Warning at the business. Swift was located and issued a citation for Unlawful Trespass, and will appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on February 13 to face the charge. +++++++++++ VIOLATION OF CONDITIONS January 26, 2018 Thomas Supernois, 47, of Brattleboro OFFICER HAMILTON On January 9 2018 officers of the Brattleboro Police Department were on patrol on Canal St. when they observed Thomas Supernois walking with another male. Supernois had active conditions of release not to contact the male in question. Supernois was arrested and charged with Contempt of Court: Violation of Conditions of Release. This stop took place on Birge Street. The operator, Tonya Camolli, has an active set of conditions of release which revoked her right to operate a motor vehicle. Camolli was place under arrest, and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department. There she was processed, and released on a citation. Camolli will appear at Windham County Superior Court on 2/6/18 to answer her charge. ++++++++++++ ASSAULT AND ROBBERY January 23, 2018 OFFICER PENNIMAN On 1/23/18 at approximately 0520 hrs Brattleboro Police responded to a business on Canal Street for an attempted armed robbery. A male wearing dark clothing entered the store demanding money from the cashier. The male stated that he had a firearm, however no firearm was brandished. The male had a mask or a hat covering his face. The male then exited the business, and headed towards the downtown area. The male was described as skinny, approximately 5ft 5inches tall. 150lbs, wearing black clothing. The male did not make away with any money, and there were no injuries. This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Brattleboro Police Department. +++++++++++ DUI January 22, 2018 Salzman, John, R. 27 of Williamsville, VT OFFICER KERYLOW On 01/21/2018 at approximately 1318 hours Brattleboro Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Linden Street for a traffic violation. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of John R. Salzman for Driving Under the Influence. Salzman was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department where he was fingerprinted, photographed and lodged. Salzman was ordered held until sober and issued Conditions of Release and a citation to appear in court on 02/06/2018. +++++++++++++++ DEATH January 21, 2018 Detective Lt. Evans On 01/21/2018 at approximately 8:30 am Brattleboro Police, Brattleboro Fire, and Rescue Inc. responded to a residence on Clark Street for the report of an unresponsive person who wasn’t breathing. The 65 year old female was declared deceased on scene. An Assistant Medical Examiner from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner assisted with investigation on scene and it was determined that the female had died from natural causes. The name of the decedent is being withheld at this time out of respect for the family. ++++++ DRIVING WHILE CRIMINALLY SUSPENDED January 21, 2018 Anthony L Matias, 34, of Brattleboro, VT Officer Wilson While on routine patrol, Brattleboro Officers observed a vehicle traveling on Canal Street and knew its operator Anthony L Matias 34, of Brattleboro, to have a Criminally Suspended Driver’s License. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle Matias was arrested and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department where he was fingerprinted and photographed. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and found its operator Theresa M Gay 43, of Brattleboro to have a Criminally Suspended Driver’s License. Gay was arrested and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department where she was fingerprinted and photographed. She was released on a Citation ordering her to appear in Windham County Superior Court on 2/27/2018. +++++++ BANK ROBBERY January 21, 2018 Angel L Baker (17, being charged as an adult), of Rockingham, VT Jack D Burke (18), of Rockingham, VT Detective Whiteman On 01/18/2018 at approximately 1600 hours Brattleboro Police responded to a financial institution on Putney Road for a report of an armed robbery. Through investigation and with the assistance of social media, Angel Baker and Jack Burke were identified and arrested. Angel is being charged as an adult with Assault and Robbery, and Jack is being charged with Aiding in the Commission of a Felony. Both are being held on $10,000 bail. Ethier, 19, of Brattleboro, VT Officer Kerylow On 01/16/2018 Brattleboro Police responded to a residence on First Level Drive for a family fight. Upon arrival, it was determined that Emma R. Ethier got into an argument with her mother and punched her three times. Ethier was placed under arrest and was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department for processing. Ethier was released with Conditions of Release and a citation to appear in court tomorrow, 01/17/2018, to answer the charge. When police arrived they found the parties were separated and one had left the scene. Through the investigation, it was discovered that Jacob Gagnon was violating his conditions of release by having contact with a child under the age of 16. Gagnon was arrested for violating his conditions of release. Upon investigation it was determined that Celina Stephens, 31, of Brattleboro commited the crime of fraudulent use of a credit card. Through investigation it was determined that Lucas Bertolini and Thomas French committed the offense of Unlawful Trespass at the business. Bertolini and French were located at later times and issued citations to appear at the Windham County Superior Courthouse on 2/13/18 to answer to the charge +++++++++ DUI January 21, 2018 Melissa Melloan, 60, of Guilford, VT Officer Penniman On 1/1/18 in the early morning hours Brattleboro Police observed a vehicle operating on Williams Street, which is a public highway. The vehicle failed to maintain its designated lane of travel, prompting a motor vehicle stop. Further investigation lead to the arrest of Melloan for the offense of DUI. Melloan was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department where she was processed, and subsequently released on a citation. Melloan will appear in Windham County Superior Court on 1/16/18 to answer her charge. ++++++++++ KIDNAPPING/SECOND DEGREE AGGRAVATED DOMESTIC ASSAULT/INTERFERENCE WITH ACCESS TO EMERGENCY SERVICES January 11, 2018 Walter Taylor, 25, of Brattleboro, VT Officer Wilson On 1/10/2018, Brattleboro Officers received a 911 call. A female could be heard screaming. That call was abruptly disconnected. Officers were able to identify the owner of phone from which the call had originated and began an investigation to determine the female caller’s location. Subsequent investigation determined that the caller was with Walter M Taylor, 25 of Brattleboro. Taylor was later located along with the female caller. Investigation revealed that he forced the female into his vehicle and kidnapped her. In the process the female suffered a broken hand. He then drove around with the female in his vehicle for an extended amount of time. He then took her cell phone from her to prevent her from calling for help. There were no weapons involved. Taylor was arrested and transported to the Brattleboro police Department where he was processed. He was ordered held without bail and is scheduled to appear in Windham County Superior Court on 1/11/2018 to answer to the charges. The female was treated at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for her injuries and later released. +++++++++++ MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH January 11, 2018 Officer Kerylow On 01/10/2018 at approximately 0919 hours Brattleboro Police and EMS personnel responded to Marlboro Road for a motor vehicle collision with injury. Allison R. Fiske was operating a white 2012 Toyota Highlander, east bound, and rear ended a white 2012 Chevrolet Express van which was operated by Shawn A. Frost. The east bound lane of Marlboro Road was shut down for approximately 30 minutes until both vehicles were removed. Frost was transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for non life threatening injuires. Fiske did not sustain any injuries from the crash. ++++++++++ ASSAULT INVESTIGATION January 11, 2018 Officer Vinton On 01/09/18 at approximately 1527, Brattleboro Police responded to a residence on Elm St. for a female that had sustained multiple injuries and was seeking medical attention. Upon investigation it was determined that the injured female had cuts to her neck and chest. The victim was transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for non-life threating injuries. This incident remains under investigation at this time. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Marquis D Lafayette, 57 of Brattleboro. He was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department where he was ordered held until sober. He is scheduled to appear in Windham County Superior Court on 1/09/2018, to answer to the charge. +++++++++++ DEATH January 9, 2018 DETECTIVE JOHNSON Updated Release: An autopsy was performed on the decedent and investigation is ongoing. Initial Release: On January 7, 2018 at 13:11 hours, members of the Brattleboro Police Department and Emergency Services responded to Birge Street for a medical emergency involving a one month year old. The one month year old was transported to the Brattleboro Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. This death is currently being investigated by the Brattleboro Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. +++++++++++ DUI January 9, 2018 Linn, Matthew, 43, Hinsdale OFFICER VINTON On 01/06/18 at approximately 2:07 a.m. the Brattleboro Police responded to a residence on Elm St. for a male that was pounding on a door stating he was not dressed for the weather. Upon investigation it was determined that Matthew Linn, 43, of Hinsdale was intoxicated and was in possesion of his motor vehicle on a public highway. Linn was arrested for DUI and transported to the Brattleboro Police Station. Linn was later issued a citation to appear in court on 01/23/18 to face the charge. +++++++++++ UNLAWFUL MISCHIEF January 9, 2018 Hazlett, Nathan E, 44 of Brattleboro OFFICER WILSON On 1/02/2018, Brattleboro Officers responded to a residence on Canal Street on a report of property damage. Upon arrival they observed that the glass, to the exterior door to the building had been shattered. Witnesses stated that they believed Nathan E Hazlett to be responsible. Hazlett was located a short time later and admitted to causing the damage. He was issued a Citation for Unlawful Mischief. Susequent investigation revealed that both operators were under the influence of alcohol. Witherell and Magee were both arrested and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department where they were fingerprinted and photographed. They were issued Citations ordering them to appear in Windham County Superior Court on 01/16/2018 to answer to the charge. ++++++++++++ BURGLARY January 7, 2018 Jared Johnson, 26, of Brattleboro, VT Jami-Leigh Webber, 26, of Brattleboro, VT Detective Whiteman In the month of October 2017, the Brattleboro Police Department began an investigation of multiple burglaries that had occurred in the Town of Brattleboro. Through the course of the investigation the Brattleboro Police identified Johnson and his girlfriend Webber as suspects. Johnson was arrested and charged for Burlary into an Occupied Dwelling x2. Johnson was fingerprinted and photographed for these offenses. Johnson was orderred to go to the Windham County Suprior Court Criminal Division on 01/02/2018. Webber was arrested for Aiding in the Commission of Felony and Possession of Stolen Property. Webber was fingerprinted and photographed for these offenses and ordered to go to the Windham County Superior Court Criminal Division on 02/06/2018 to answer to thses offenses. ++++++++++ ASSAULT January 7, 2018 James A. Harris, 31, of Chicopee, MA Sgt. Petlock On 12/31/17 at approximately 7:00am, Brattleboro Police responded to a residence on Green Street for a reported dispute involving a female and male. Investigation revealed that the male assaulted the female outside the residence. The female was treated at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for minor injuries related to the assault. There were no weapons involved in the incident. The male was identified as James A. Harris. He was arrested for the offense of Simple Assault, and later issued a citation ordering him to appear in Windham County Superior Court on 02/13/18. ++++++++ BURGLARY, UNLAWFUL MISCHIEF January 7, 2018 Tyler Reynolds, 22, of Brattleboro, VT Officer Fletcher On December 28, 2017 at approximately 1612 hours the Brattleboro Pollice responded to a residence for a report of a persons attempting to break in. Through investigation it was determined Tyler Reynolds had broken into an apartment by force, damaging the property. Reynolds was placed under arrest and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department for processing. Tyler was released with a citation to appear at the Windham County Superior Court, Criminal DIvision on 02/3/2018 to answer to the charges. ++++++++++++++ UNLAWFUL TRESPASS January 7, 2018 Chelsie Ouellette, 42, of Brattleboro, VT Officer MacDonald On December 28, 2017 Brattleboro Police responded to a business on Putney Road for the report of a female that staff would like trespassed. The female was identified as Chelsie Ouellette. Through investigation it was determined that Ouellette had previously been trespassed from the business. Ouellette was placed under arrest and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department for processing. Snow and ice will be removed from the Harmony Lot in the downtown area this evening. Parked vehicles in the Harmony Lot must be removed by 1:00am or they will be towed at the owner’s expense. If vehicles are going to remain in Town overnight they should park in the Brattleboro Transportation Center. If you use the Transportation Center, do not park in a Reserved Permit space without a permit. Pay and Display is in effect after 9:00 a.m. Contact the Brattleboro Police Department at 257-7950 for any questions. +++++++++++++++
